Fire Destroys Outbuilding in Eden Lake Township Wednesday Morning
(KNSI) — The cause of a fire that consumed an outbuilding at a property in Eden Lake Township Wednesday morning is under investigation. According to the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, a 911 call came in just after 3:00 a.m. from the homeowner, who said he heard popping noises and saw flames and black smoke coming from the building. When first responders arrived, the 2,500 square foot structure was completely engulfed.

Decades Old Case Closed In St. Augusta Infant’s Death
UNDATED (WJON News) -- A decades-old case has been closed by the Stearns County Sheriff's Office. The Sheriff's Office says they have identified the parents of Baby Jane Doe and after further investigation have decided to close the case. On April 3rd, 1980, the sheriff's office responded to a call at what is now 250th Street, west of County Road 136 in St. Augusta for a report of a dead infant. Once on the scene, deputies found a deceased child, later identified as Baby Jane Doe, about five feet off the roadway.

The Stearns County Sheriff's Office announced on Thursday that the investigation into DNA evidence in the cold case led to the discovery of the parents of the newborn baby who was left in a ditch back in 1980. But they are not able to charge anyone in relation to the baby's death, due to lack of proof that a person committed a crime.

(KNSI) — The Stearns County Sheriff’s Department says it has learned the identity of the parents of a baby whose remains were found in a ditch outside St. Cloud in 1980. According to a press release sent Thursday afternoon, April 3rd, 1980, officers responded to a report of a deceased infant on what is now 250th Street, west of County Road 136, in St. Augusta. Sheriff Charlie Grafft and his team found the infant, later named Baby Jane Doe, approximately five feet from the roadway. An autopsy conducted the next day by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office determined the child was born alive at full-term with no obvious cause of death. Baby Doe was buried in Calvary Cemetery in St. Cloud on April 7th, 1980, and the investigation continued.
