Decades Old Case Closed In St. Augusta Infant’s Death
UNDATED (WJON News) -- A decades-old case has been closed by the Stearns County Sheriff's Office. The Sheriff's Office says they have identified the parents of Baby Jane Doe and after further investigation have decided to close the case. On April 3rd, 1980, the sheriff's office responded to a call at what is now 250th Street, west of County Road 136 in St. Augusta for a report of a dead infant. Once on the scene, deputies found a deceased child, later identified as Baby Jane Doe, about five feet off the roadway.

ST AUGUSTA, Minn. — Stearns County officials announced they're closing a decades-old cold case after a recent review of DNA evidence. According to a statement from the Stearns County Sheriff's Office, the case stems from the discovery of an infant's body just feet off a roadway in St. Augusta, Minnesota, on April 3, 1980. Sheriff's officials said investigators were able to use DNA taken from the full-term, live-born baby, identified as Baby Jane Doe, and finally determine the identities of both of her parents.
Teenage boy drowns at central Minnesota's Quarry Park and Nature Preserve
WAITE PARK, Minn. — A teenage boy drowned after jumping into a quarry in central Minnesota Tuesday, authorities said.The 17-year-old jumped into the water from a 10-foot cliff at Quarry Park and Nature Preserve and never came up, according to the Stearns County Sheriff's Office. Witnesses dove in to find him but were unsuccessful.Authorities were called around 4:20 p.m. and responded with boats to search the quarry. The boy was found in 31 feet of water nearly four-and-a-half hours after the original 911 call.The boy has not been publicly identified.

The Stearns County Sheriff's Office got a call at approximately 9:45 a.m. about a fire at the Hilltop Restaurant at 28518 Highway 55. The fire was reported to have started on the roof.
