FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - At approximately 2:30 p.m. on Friday, a body was found in the Chena River near the power plant by interior Village Public Safety Officers. The Fairbanks Police Department (FPD), identified the body as 42-year-old Elia Ansaknok. Ansaknok has been missing since witnesses saw him jump into the Chena River the afternoon of July 19.

First ever subsistence fishery closure at Port Clarence causes hardship at Teller, Brevig
After experiencing an unprecedented closure of subsistence salmon fishing, the Port Clarence district, including Teller and Brevig Mission, is now open for fishing. The Alaska Dept. of Fish and Game closed the Port Clarence district to set net fishing— excluding Pilgrim River — from June 15 until July 1; then two 48-hour fishing periods per week were opened until Monday, July 15, when subsistence fishing was allowed seven days per week.

Medical student gets firsthand training in Bethel
Stephen Compton, the son of Bethel’s Dr. David Compton, is an Alaska WWAMI medical student.
