DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — The mother of a local firefighter lost her home and beloved pets during a fire in Dauphin County on Tuesday.

The scene that firefighters were called to was along Penn Street in Swatara Township, around 5:30 p.m.

Interim Chief of the Steelton Fire Department Stephen M. Brubacher II says the department “experienced a tragedy that could not get any closer to hitting home.”

“Early (Tuesday) afternoon, we responded as mutual aid to Bressler in Swatara Township for a reported structure fire. While responding, the address was updated to one of our members mother’s home,” said Brubacher II. “The family unfortunately lost everything in this fire, including two very beloved pets that the family owned and adored for many years.”
