    Summer Beer Festival, cats and cars: Things to do this weekend

    There’s plenty to do in metro Detroit as we enter the last weekend of July. Sterling Heights will come alive with live music, carnival rides, art, and more. West Bloomfield will offer a fine arts fair with scenic views of Orchard Lake. Cat enthusiasts can visit a cat show in Taylor, while spectators can watch classic cars cruise down Telegraph, and beer lovers can savor the flavors from Michigan brewers in Ypsilanti.

    Here are some things to do this weekend.

    Sterlingfest Arts & Music Fair

    Sterling Heights is set to host a lively festival that will feature live entertainment across four stages. Highlights include a new drone show on Thursday at 9:30 p.m., an art fair, various restaurant and food vendors, a 5k walk/run, carnival rides, a kids' tent, the DIA’s Inside Out public art pieces. Attendees can also tour the historic Upton House Museum from 1-4 p.m., and visit the local author book sale and more.

    The entertainment lineup will include John Michael Montgomery , Night Ranger , Simply Spice (Spice Girls tribute), Carly Collura , Persuasion , Space Cat , Cosmic Groove and many others.

    Festival hours are 10 a.m.-11 p.m. Thursday-Saturday. The Arts and Crafts Fair runs from 10 a.m.-8 p.m., and carnival hours are 10 a.m.-10:30 p.m. The event will take place at the City of Sterling Heights campus at 40555 Utica Road in Sterling Heights.     Orchard Lake Fine Art Show

    This juried fine art fair will feature 120 artists selling their original, handmade art across various disciplines, including paintings, sculptures, glass, clay, photography, wood art, fiber, mixed media, jewerly, and more. Attendees can also enjoy food and live music.

    The entertainment lineup will include Sheila Landis & Rick Matle Jazz , Denise Davis & The Motor City Sensations , One Love Reggae Band and DTour Band .

    The event runs from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday at Orchard Lake Road, south of Maple in West Bloomfield. Admission is $5, with free entry for children 13 and under. Free parking at 6900 Orchard Lake Road.

    Motor City Jazz Club/Midwest Persian Tabby Fanciers

    Cat enthusiasts are in for a treat at the upcoming CFA Allbreed Cat Show, where feline lovers will showcase their cherished companions. Attendees can learn about specific pedigreed breeds and connect with breeders as a variety of cat breeds will be on display.

    The show will take place from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Taylor Sportsplex at 13333 Telegraph Road in Taylor. Admission is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors and children aged 6-12, and $20 for a family.

    Hot rodders, classic car aficionado, vintage vehicle fans, modern muscle enthusiasts, tuners, exotic car lovers, and tricked-out car enthusiasts and spectators will converge on Telegraph Road between Eureka Road and Puritan Road for the annual cruise. This event spans the communities of Taylor, Dearborn Heights, and Redford Township.

    Official hours are from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday.

    Michigan Brewers Guild 25th Annual Summer Beer Festival

    Raise your glasses and savor the flavors at this beer festival showcasing hundreds of beers from Michigan’s top brewers. This 21-and-older event will also have food for purchase and live music from various Michigan bands.

    The festival takes place 5 p.m.-9 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m.-6 p.m. Saturday at Riverside Park at 2 E. Cross St. in Ypsilanti. Tickets are priced at $50 in advance on Friday ($60 day of) and $55 on Saturday in advance ($65 day of). Each ticket includes 15 sampling tokens, with additional tokens available for 50 cents each at the event.
