STERLINGTON, La. (KTVE/KARD) – The annual Dixie Boys Baseball 15U World Series returns to the Sterlington Sports Complex for the 2024 season. The tournament will begin at 9:00 AM on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, through Friday, July 19, 2024.

The multi-day event is a collaboration between the Sterlington Sports Complex and Discover Monreo-West Monroe. 16 teams from across Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas, Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina, and South Carolina are all expected to attend the event. KTVE/KARD spoke to the Mayor of Sterlington, Matt Talbert, for more information on the event.

There’s gone be 16 teams from multiple states coming in and like I said they’ll be here Wednesday through Friday. With our partnership with Discover Monroe-West Monroe, we’ll also host the Dixie World Series next year for 15U. Then starting in 2026 we’ll host it for every age group and that’s a five year agreement that the Town of Sterlington, Two Seam Sports, and Discover Monroe-West Monroe was able to put together.

The increase in visitors to the local area can be expected to increase revenue for Ouachita Parish. The Executive Vice-President for Sales with Discover Monroe-West Monroe spoke to KTVE/KARD about the economic impact of hosting the Dixie Boys Baseball 15U World Series.

Over a five year span, it’s probably going to be about a million dollars worth of impact. Its about $250,000 give or take each year. A lot of hotel rooms, hopefully they’re getting out and eating at some of our local resturaunts, and getting to see what Louisiana cuisines all about.

Scott Bruscateo, Executive Vice-President for Sales | Discover Monroe-West Monroe

Bruscateo continued by saying that the purpose of building the complex was to drive the economic impact from outside the area into Ouachita Parish. He also stated that the goal is for each visitor to have a unique experience that can only be found in Louisiana.
