NY weather update: Tornado warning issued for Steuben County Wednesday afternoon
An updated tornado warning was issued by the National Weather Service on Wednesday at 2:53 p.m. in effect until 3:30 p.m. for Steuben County. "At 2:53 p.m., a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over West Cameron, or 14 miles east of Hornell, moving northeast at 35 mph," according to the weather service. "Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely."
