Free MUSIC in the PARK on Wednesdays at NOON in Sullivan, Maine
Age-Friendly Sullivan is to invite you to our 3rd weekly event of musicians entertaining our community on Wednesdays at noon, on July 24th, 2024. Local musician, Gary Bushee will be our guest artist at our MUSIC in the PARK, under the tents at Sumner Memorial Park in Sullivan. Gary Bushee has been making music since early childhood, singing songs and playing harmonica from about age six, followed by guitar and recorder. A multi-instrumentalist, Gary plays mandolin, fiddle, viola, ukulele, and percussion. He identifies primarily as a singer, working in the folk tradition with frequent forays into jazz and country blues. Bring a picnic lunch, bring your family and friends, meet your neighbors and relax under the tents near the Gazebo. These events are FREE to the public. While our focus is Sullivan, residents and visitors in neighboring communities are welcome to join us in our community events, attend our monthly meetings and programs, plus learn how they may become an Age-Friendly Livable Community in Maine. The Southwest Harbor Select Board announced Tuesday night, July 23rd that they had signed a contract with Karen Reddersen to be the new Town Manager effective September 18th. She will replace Marilyn Lowell who is retiring on September 30th. Lowell will mentor Redderson for the last 12 days of September.
Woman killed in crash on Route 26 in Oxford
OXFORD, Maine — A woman from Norway died after a crash on Route 26 in Oxford. Police say Trudy Giroux, 65, was leaving the parking lot of the Irving gas station just before 9 a.m. to head north on Route 26 when she pulled into the path of a pickup truck headed south.

Maine Man Who Killed His Girlfriend in 2022 Sentenced
