BUTLER, Pa. (WTRF) — Two Steubenville firefighters were at the Trump rally where the shooting took place Saturday and shared their stories.

Assistant Chief Chris Takach and Captain David Sullivan say the rally was crowded and vibrant before the shots were fired.

They say they heard five or six gunshots, and they have heard that three were return fire from the Secret Service.

The two helped with the response as soon as they could, clearing crowds and moving barricades.

“There’s speculation that one of the bullets hit a what I can guess to be was the teleprompter and it shattered and caught him in the air. You could see him like trying to bat away a mosquito or something. And then he immediately went down and then Secret Service was on top of him and we were like 40 yards, 35 yards off to his left.”

Takach says they did not get a look at the shooter, but saw the victim of the shooting being carried away.
