Used Cars That Will Run for A Million Miles: Possible or Not?

According to this Youtube video these used cars will run for a million miles or more. Is that really possible? I have no idea. But most of the cars he mentions in the video can be bought fairly cheap even if they don't last as long as he claims they will.

If you've owned any of these cars and have had similar experiences or just the opposite I'd be interested to hear about it in the comments.

I wanted to cover a few of the cars in this video that surprised me. That Hondas and Toyotas run forever is no surprise but these three I wasn't expecting to make the list.

    Ford Crown Victoria

I guess in a way the toughness of these cars makes sense since they were used as police cars and taxis. In the video above the guy says they are going for between $3000-$5000 now. Depending on the year and condition I saw them listed for as low as $2000 and as high as $9000. So there you go. Will this run for a million miles? A $2000 investment might be worth it to find out.

    Volvo 240

This is really a surprise. The car with the most recorded miles ever is a 1965 Volvo. And it is also no surprise to most people that Volvos are considered some of the safest cars ever built. A quick pursing of various Craigslists around the USA revealed that these are going for around $2000-$6000 or so. Not bad at all for a safe and indestructible used car.

    Lexus RX 300 series

And it is no surprise that Toyota/Lexus vehicles would make the cut, but what surprised me is that an SUV as reliable and luxurious as the RX 300 series could be found for $3500 or even less. I saw a 2009 Lexus RX 350 for $1500. It needed a new head gasket, but I think most mechanically inclined individuals could probably handle that.

So, there you have it. What do you think? Anyone have great luck with any other cheap used vehicles? Or maybe bad luck with some of the ones in the video?

A used car will run as long as you maintain it & are willing to put money into it to keep it running.
