(DENVER, Colo.) Happy Friday to all who pushed on this week to make it here. There is an abundance of fun and exciting events scheduled from April 22 to April 24 in the Mile High City.

Today is Earth Day, so be sure to get out and honor the planet we live on and do your part to keep it healthy.

The weather in Denver this weekend will be overcast, chilly and moist.

Saturday calls for a slight possibility of rain following noon and a high temperature near 61. Sunday will be even colder, as rain and snow showers are expected to hit the city before 11 a.m. Thunder is also possible.

Here are a few things to contemplate doing in and around the Denver metro this weekend:

    1. Stride down 16th St. Mall and see students perform for free at DPS' Shakespeare Festival

Denver Public Schools' 38th annual Shakespeare Festival returns from 10 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Friday at the Denver Performing Arts Complex.

The 38th annual Elizabethan Route Parade will run down the 16th St. Mall to Curtis St., stopping at the Denver Arts Complex, where students from across the district will perform. Street Theatre will occur in a sectioned-off area outside the Opera House inside the Denver Center Breezeway.

    2. Honor Mother Earth with vegan food trucks, lowrider bike contest and more

This Earth Day, stop by this free, all-ages community event to experience yoga, vegan food trucks, a lowrider bike competition -- and DJ Cavern's album release party.

Festivities will run from 2 to 10 p.m. at the McNichols Civic Center Building and begins with a Chi'd-Up yoga class led by Tyrone Beverly, followed by an "Inner City Foraging workshop" with master herbalist Brigitte Mars.

    3. Witness the greatest monster truck race at Empower Field

If excitement is what you desire this weekend, look no further than Monster Jam.

World-class drivers will return to Denver at 7 p.m. on Saturday to compete in speed and skill contests. Tickets are available starting at $28.

    4. Run in one of Colorado's oldest, biggest road races for the last time ever

Celebrate 40 years of the Cherry Creek Sneak this Sunday by partaking in a 10-mile, 5-mile, or 5K.

The Denver Post reported race director Pat Downing said this year's Cherry Creek Sneak is the final due to a steep drop in registration. There will also be a 1/2 mile kids fun run for runners ages 8 and under.

    5. Find your newest vintage fit and other goodies at ThriftCon Denver

Are you a lover of all things vintage? You're in luck. ThriftCon returns this weekend for its first full-scale, full-capacity indoor event in the Mile High City since 2019.

The vintage market runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the National Western Complex. Tickets are available for $10 and can be purchased for $15 Sunday at the complex.
