The story of Cafe Momentum began with Chef Chad Houser, a seasoned Dallas chef with a deep commitment to his community. Houser, formerly co-owner of Parigi Restaurant, was inspired to create Cafe Momentum after participating in a cooking competition with young men from the Dallas County Juvenile Department. Witnessing their talent, enthusiasm, and the positive impact of mentorship, Houser realized the transformative power of culinary arts. This experience ignited a passion in him to do more for these young people who often face limited opportunities and societal stigma.

In 2011, Houser left Parigi to fully dedicate himself to what would become Cafe Momentum. Initially, it started as a series of pop-up dinners, showcasing the culinary skills of youth involved in the juvenile justice system. The success of these events fueled the establishment of a permanent restaurant in 2015, located in downtown Dallas. The restaurant’s mission: to provide a positive environment where young people can gain life skills, work experience, and the support they need to succeed in life.
