Steve Sarkisian credits Nick Saban for life-saving 2020 heart surgery: 'He saved me'
Texas football coach Steve Sarkisian had a close call in 2020, during his stint as the Alabama offensive coordinator. A physical exam ahead of that season revealed Sarkisian had an aneurysm in his heart as the result of a leaky valve and discovered that, instead of the normal three heart valves most people are born with, the coach only had two. He promptly underwent life-saving open heart surgery and made a full recovery, allowing him to coach the Crimson Tide's 2020 national championship team.
