OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center leader to retire after 39 years, including 11 as president
ROCKFORD — Paula Carynski has announced her plans to retire early next year after more than 11 years leading OSF HealthCare Saint Anthony Medical Center. Carynski, who began serving in 1985 as a cardiac staff nurse, has served as the medical center’s president since 2013. She was its chief nursing officer before that starting in August 1999, and she has held a variety of manager and director roles in various areas. Her last day will be Jan. 31, 2025.
Thursday Night Groove concert series coming to Rock Island
ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (KWQC) - Rock Island Parks & Recreation will host a weekly concert series - Thursday Night Groove beginning this Thursday. The concert series will be held on the Ellis Kell Stage at Schwiebert Riverfront Park, 1st Avenue and 18th Street, according to event organizers. Each concert is free and fun for all ages. Thursday Night Groove will begin at 6 p.m. with the opening food and beer sales. Featured will be Rock Island Parks Concession Stand with hamburgers, pork tenderloins, brats, and hot dogs. Happy Joe’s Pizza and beer sales by Bent River Brewing Company, with their seasonal on tap in addition to their standard lineup of craft brews. Live concert performance will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Champaign, IL – Severe thunderstorms are expected across Illinois tonight, bringing the potential for damaging winds, urban flooding, and isolated hail. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued an alert, warning residents to prepare for wind gusts reaching up to 70 mph, quarter-sized hail, and heavy rainfall that could lead to localized flooding.
