Belfry man killed in crash near Absarokee, third fatal in a week
A Belfry man died over the weekend in a wreck along a state highway in Stillwater County. The 71-year-old was one of four people traveling in an SUV that went off the road June 23 and struck a guardrail, according to a preliminary report from Montana Highway Patrol. Sunday’s fatality contributed to an increase in deadly crashes in Montana when compared to last year.

On Tuesday, June 11, Stillwater County Commissioners met at Hannah Hall in Fishtail, where they were thanked by community member Max Jahn for granting Fishtail with a $5,000 community grant through Stillwater County thanks largely to metal mine funds. The money helped the Fishtail community enhance its park, which now has a slide and a climbing wall. A dedication for the new and improved park will take place later this summer.
