Two former teammates on the Stillwater boys golf team recently delivered strong performances for their college programs.

St. John’s University junior Tim Fultz, a 2022 SAHS graduate, placed fourth in the individual standings at the MIAC Men’s Golf Championships on Oct. 5-7 at Braemar Golf Course.

Fultz earned All-MIAC honors after leading the Johnnies (297-304-291--892) to a runner-up finish with Bethel (297-305-290--892). Those teams placed 18 shots behind behind Carlton (292-297-285--874). St. John’s has finished second or better in the MIAC standings in 21 of the last 26 seasons.

Fultz was steady all three days, posting a 217 (73-75-69) total that trailed only Ryan Choi (212) of Carleton, Chris Gutuza (215) of Gustavus and Sam Higaki (216) of Carleton.

The Johnnies will wrap up their fall schedule by competing in the Golfweek October Classic on Oct. 13-15 in Destin, Fla.

    • Another former Ponies player set the pace for the Air Force Academy men’s golf team on Day 2 of the Mark Simpson Invitational on Oct. 1 at Colorado National Golf Course in Erie, Colo.

Eric Liveringhouse made six birdies and carded a 3-under par 69, which was the best round of his collegiate career. The 2022 Stillwater graduate finished 5-over par (221) in the tournament to finish in a tie for 72nd place. It was his best 54-hole total in in a team-scoring event.

In nine rounds this fall, Liveringhouse has posted a 74.78 scoring average, which is the fifth lowest on the team. Air Force (295-292-290--877) tied Central Arkansas for 16th place in the tournament, which was won by Colorado State (282-276-270--828).
