After posting a team-high .431 batting average and providing outstanding defense behind the plate, Mason McCurdy garnered several honors while joining three additional teammates in earning All-Suburban East Conference honors for the Stillwater baseball team. McCurdy, a Creighton University recruit and three-year starter, was joined by fellow seniors Alex VanDell and Cooper Keykal and junior Alex Boston in earning all-conference honors for the Ponies. ST. LOUIS PARK — Stillwater native Ben Warian tied for third place in the Minnesota Golf Association’s 120th State Amateur Championship that concluded on Wednesday, July 19 at Minneapolis Golf Club. The University of Minnesota player and 2019 Hill-Murray graduate turned in a nine-under par three-day total of 207 to tie Nate Stevens of Northfield Golf Club for third, two shots behind Bryce Hanstad (69-67-69—205) of Olympic Hills Golf Club. ...

Sophia Chau ended her prep career on teams with a nearly perfect winning percentage in the pool and Max Shikenjanski set countless school records for the basketball and football programs. The recent Stillwater Area High School graduates were recently rewarded with yet another honor as this year’s recipients of the Jim McLaughlin Scholarship Award. Registration taking place for Pony Youth Football Camp The Pony Youth Football Camp for Stillwater football players entering grades 2-5 will take place Monday, July 31-Thursday, Aug. 3 at the Stillwater Area High School practice field under the direction of Stillwater Ponies football coach Beau LaBore. Cost for the camp is $60 if registered by July 23, and $70 thereafter. Preregistration is encouraged, but walk-ups are also welcome. Participants will receive a camp t-shirt. Seven was definitely the theme for Matt Girsch as the Lake Elmo resident notched his first hole-in-one while playing on Friday, July 7 — or 7/7 — at Jack’s 18 golf course at Ruttger’s Bay Lake Resort in Deerwood. Girsch used a 7-iron to ace the par-3 seventh hole, which was playing 173 yards.
