This is a look back at some of the people and teams making news in the St. Croix Valley 10 years ago, as reported in the Stillwater Gazette.

Boys swimming and diving — Behind strong performances throughout the lineup, Stillwater racks up 1,983.5 points to record its best-ever showing while placing second behind Minnetonka (2,263) in the boys swimming and diving Class AA True Team State Meet at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center. Brady Anderson places second in the 200 freestyle to provide the top individual performance for the Ponies, who also receive top-five efforts from Marcus Green (50 free), Max Larson (500 free) and Jon Busse (100 back) in the meet.

Girls hockey — The Stillwater girls hockey team keeps its Suburban East Conference title hopes alive with a 5-1 victory over Woodbury at the St. Croix Valley Rec Center. Carlie Hart, Daniella Reardon, Georgia Eger, Jane Vezina and Sam Scheid each supply a goal for the Ponies (13-3-1 SEC, 16-6-1) as they celebrate Senior Night by extending their winning streak to seven.

Boys basketball — After losing to Roseville by 17 points earlier in the season, the Stillwater boys basketball team receives 24 points from Kyle McKinley and 20 from Connor Gamble on the way to a 68-61 Suburban East Conference victory over the Raiders in the rematch. McKinley, who scores 18 of his points in the second half, also grabs nine rebounds and finishes with seven blocked shots.
