OAK PARK HEIGHTS — The Stillwater gymnastics season closed out the regular season with a season-high total while dispatching White Bear Lake 145.375-137.65 in a Suburban East Conference dual meet on Wednesday, Feb. 7 at Stillwater Area High School.
The Ponies (6-2 SEC, 6-2), who have surpassed 140 points in five of their 11 meets this season, bettered their previous high score of 143.8 achieved while placing fourth in the Lakeville Invitational on Jan. 13.
It was also Senior Night for the Ponies and each of the four — Ava Biederman, Zoe Chase, Abbey Savelkoul and Chloe Stanton — competed in all four rotations.
Savelkoul posted a score of 37.05 to win the all-around just ahead of junior teammate Liberty Quast (36.975). Chase (35.75) and Biederman (35.6) placed fourth and fifth in the all-around while Stanton finished with a score of 33.775.
Stillwater finished with a flourish while recording its top score in the floor exercise at 37.325. Biederman set the pace with a 9.45 while Savelkoul (9.4), Quast (9.275) and Chase (9.2) completed the scoring. Stanton’s throw away score of 9.175 was higher than any competitor for the Bears as Stillwater swept the top five places in the event.
Quast and Savelkoul tied for the top spot in the uneven bars with scores of 9.125. Quast led the Ponies in the vault (9.6) while Savelkoul delivered a 9.575 to set the pace in the beam, which was the team’s second-highest scoring event at 36.725.
Biederman (9.15), Savelkoul (8.95) and Chase (8.7) also delivered solid scores in the vault. Chase also contributed a 9.2 in the beam, followed by Quast and Biederman with matching scores of 8.975.

At Oak Park Heights, the Ponies posted four of the top five all-around scores on the way to a comfortable 142.125-132.425 conference victory over Mounds View/Irondale on Thursday, Feb. 1 at SAHS.
Quast finished with an all-around score of 36.8 to lead all competitors, including runner-up Avery Dox (36.675) of Mounds View/Irondale. Ava Biederman (34.95), Zoe Chase (34.775) and Abbey Savelkoul (34.2) completed the top five.
Quast led the Ponies in three of four events, including the vault (9.5), bars (9.2) and floor (9.35). Zoe Chase provided Stillwater’s top score in the beam at 9.0.
Dox posted the top scores among all competitors in the beam (9.5) and floor (9.375).
