    Boys swimming and diving: Stillwater sinks Knights

    MOUNDS VIEW — The Stillwater boys swimming and diving team closed out its Suburban East Conference campaign with a 101-83 victory over Irondale on Thursday, Feb. 8 at Edgewood Middle School.

    The Ponies finished the regular season with a 7-2 record in the SEC and 8-2 overall, with their only losses coming against undefeated conference champion Woodbury and runner-up East Ridge.

    Stillwater placed first in 9 of 12 events against the Knights, led by junior Jackson Kogler with victories in the 200 individual medley (1:57.91) and 100 butterfly (52.10).

    Kogler also led off Stillwater’s first-place 200 medley relay team (1:45.85) that also included Paul Hartmann, Wyatt Fredeen and Cameron Winters. Loken, Fredeen, Zach Cody and Kogler also took top honors in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:25.71.

    Winters led a 1-2-3 finish in the 50 freestyle with a time of 23.09, followed by Hartmann (24.95) and Cooper Larson (26.08) in second and third place.

    Loken (52.80) and Winters (53.14) occupied the top two spots in the 100 freestyle while Fredeen (56.21) and Ethan Finch (1:03.91) landed first and second for the Ponies in the 100 backstroke. Hartmann added a victory in the 100 breastroke with a time of 1:09.59.

    Stillwater also received a boost in diving with Tate Sorensen (272.65) and Grady Flynn (179.50) placing first and second.

    The JV Conference Meet is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 17 at Oltman Middle School in Cottage Grove.

    The Ponies are slated to host the Section 4AA Meet on Feb. 22-24 at Stillwater Middle School.
