Quast and Riser are SAHS Athletes of the Week

Girls track and field

After earning all-state honors in gymnastics for the second year in a row this past winter, Liberty Quast has hit the ground running for the Stillwater girls track and field team this spring.

The junior finished first in the 100- and 200-meter races and placed second as part of a 1-2-3 showing for the Ponies in the 400 meters while competing in the Mounds View Invitational on April 15. Quast also won the triple jump in the SEC Relays on April 9.

The Ponies are scheduled to compete that Bethel Invitational on Friday, April 26.

Soel Riser

Boys track and field

Soel Riser ran to a victory in the 400 meters to produce one of four first-place finishes for the Stillwater boys track and field team on the way to a third-place showing in the standings at the White Bear Lake Relays on April 11.

The senior posted a winning time of 50.78 in the 400 also tied for third place in the 100 meters with a time of 11.56 as part of a balanced effort for the Ponies in their first outdoor meet of the season.

Stillwater is scheduled to host the Pony Classic on Saturday, April 20 at Stillwater Area High School.
