OAK PARK HEIGHTS — After getting held scoreless in the second half of its previous game, the Stillwater girls lacrosse team received at least one goal from 11 different players in a 22-3 Suburban East Conference victory over Forest Lake on Wednesday, May 8 at Stillwater Area High School.

The Ponies (6-1 SEC, 6-2) maintained their position atop the conference standings, having handed East Ridge (5-1, 5-2) and Park (5-1, 6-1) their only league setbacks earlier this season. In addition to its three nonconference games remaining, Stillwater hosts Woodbury (4-1, 4-3) in an SEC game on Friday, May 10 and then travels to Mounds View (2-5, 4-6) for its final conference game on Wednesday, May 15.

Madylyn Richert delivered five goals and Maycie Neubauer added four tallies for the Ponies against Forest Lake (0-7, 1-8). Jillian Maddux, Rayna Malmberg, Cassidy Keykal and Ava Mosley added two goals apiece. Mosley and Lydia Glass each notched a team-high three assists.

At White Bear Lake, the Ponies were unable to find the back of the net during the season half while falling to the Bears 8-6 in a conference game on Friday, May 3 at White Bear Lake High School.

It ended a five-game winning streak for the fourth-ranked Ponies, who were held to fewer than 10 goals in a game for the first time all season. Stillwater jumped out to a 4-2 lead in the first quarter, but the Bears (4-3, 6-3) scored four times in the second to even the score at 6-all.

Following a scoreless third quarter, White Bear Lake scored twice in the fourth and prevented the Ponies from doing the same.

Six different players collected a goal each for Stillwater, which can still earn at least a share of its 14th conference title in 15 seasons with victories in its final two SEC games.

Beverly Peterson finished with four goals to lead the Bears, who also received two goals from Jaeda Jensen.
