    Softball: Lamey throws complete game shutout against Park

    OAK PARK HEIGHTS — Freshman Cece Lamey limited Park just five hits and two walks in the complete game shutout as Stillwater recorded a 4-0 Suburban East Conference softball victory on Wednesday, May 8 at Stillwater Area High School.

    Park (8-6 SEC, 8-6), fresh off victories over White Bear Lake (10-4, 10-4) and Cretin-Derham Hall (10-4, 11-4) that knocked each of those teams out of first place behind Forest Lake (12-3, 12-3), were unable to get anything going against the Ponies (10-5, 11-5) while getting shut out for the first time all season.

    Lamey finished with just one strikeout, but Stillwater also played error-less defense behind her while winning for the fourth time in the last five games.

    Lilly Grundner and Ava Volkmann collected two hits apiece for the Ponies, who scored a run in the third and stretched the lead to 3-0 with two more in the fourth.

    At Oak Park Heights, the Ponies pounded out 13 hits and took five walks while cruising to a 16-0 conference victory over Irondale in four innings on Monday, May 6 at SAHS.

    Anna Corbid allowed just one hit and struck out six in four innings for Stillwater, which scored seven runs in the first and tacked on nine more in the second.

    Sarah Dollerschell drove a triple and home run among her three hits for the Ponies, who received at least one hit from 10 different players. Addison Coffey also homered and joined Dollerschell and Autumn Lettner in driving in three runs for Stillwater.

    Forest Lake 7, Stillwater 1

    At Forest Lake, the Rangers maintained their position atop the conference standings with a 7-1 victory over the Ponies on Friday, May 3 at Forest Lake High School.

    Hanna Tong yielded just four hits and three walks while striking out seven in the complete game for Forest Lake, which took control with three runs in the third and fourth innings. Tong also singled and doubled to drive in three runs at the plate.

    Maya Schoeder doubled and tripled to provide two of Stillwater’s four hits.

    • The Ponies were scheduled to host Maple Grove in a nonconference game on Saturday, May 4, but that game was postponed due to rain.
