This is a look back at some of the people and teams making news in the St. Croix Valley 10 years ago, as reported in the Stillwater Gazette.

Girls lacrosse — Carter Sanderson and Remi Larson deliver four goals apiece as the Stillwater girls lacrosse team storms back into the Suburban East Conference title chase with a 16-5 victory over previously unbeaten Cretin-Derham Hall at SAHS. Anna Corman adds three goals for the Ponies (3-1 SEC, 4-2), who join the Raiders and East Ridge with just one loss in the conference standings.

Boys track and field — Senior David Peterson finishes first in the shot put and discus to help send the Stillwater boys track and field team to a 860.5-727.5 victory over Woodbury in the rest of the field in the Section 2AAA True Team Meet at St. Thomas Academy. Isaac Hale wins the pole vault and Eli Krahn crosses the line first in the 3,200 meters to help lead the Ponies.

Golf — Stillwater Area High School graduate Hudson Carpenter (71) ties for fourth place while another former Ponies standout Kyle Scanlon (73) ties for eighth place in a U.S. Open local qualifying tournament at Stillwater Country Club. The three co-medalists, each finishing one shot ahead of Carpenter with a 70, advance to a section tournament to help fill out the U.S. Open field at Pinehurst No. 2.
