    Boys volleyball: Stillwater falls short against Washington Technology

    OAK PARK HEIGHTS — Unable to maintain its early momentum, the Stillwater boys volleyball team dropped a 3-1 nonconference decision against Washington Technology Magnet School on Friday, May 10 at Stillwater Area High School.

    It was the third straight loss for the Ponies (1-3 East Conference, 5-12), who fell by scores of 21-25, 25-19, 25-16 and 25-20.

    Henry Thury finished with seven kills to lead a balanced attack, which included four players with five or more kills. Conor Boyum added six kills and a team-high seven blocks while Ben Fredericks also notched six kills. John Dieterle chipped in with six blocks.

    Jacob Le-Xiong recorded 18 set assists for Stillwater.

    The Eagles improved to 6-2 overall (2-1 in the Central Conference).

    Forest Lake 3, Stillwater 0

    At Forest Lake, the Ponies struggled with serve receive and, despite playing better in the second and third sets, were unable to extend the match while falling to Forest Lake 25-16, 26-46 and 26-24 in an East Conference match on Thursday, May 9 at Forest Lake High School.

    “We had a challenging day with our serve receive,” Ponies coach Pete Farrell said.

    John Dieterle supplied five kills and four blocks to help lead the Ponies, who received a team-high nine set assists from Jacob Le-Xiong. Henry Thury added four kills while Conor Boyum totaled three blocks.

    St. Paul Harding (5-0, 7-2) and North St. Paul (3-0, 10-4-1) remain unbeaten in East Conference play while East Ridge (4-2, 6-8), Tartan (3-2, 4-9-1) and Park (3-2, 5-4) each have two losses. Forest Lake improved to 3-3 in league play and 5-13 overall.
