10 years ago this week...

This is a look back at some of the people and teams making news in the St. Croix Valley 10 years ago, as reported in the Stillwater Gazette.

Boys tennis — Stillwater’s first doubles team of Daniel Ahrendt and Jack Leach and third doubles team of Seth Cattanach and Jonathan Luk each prevailed in three sets to help lift the Ponies to a 4-3 Suburban East Conference boys tennis victory over White Bear Lake. Nick Rheinberger and Riley Hollerbach also contributed singles victories for Stillwater.

Girls golf — Led by Sydney O’Neal and Erin Thiets, the Stillwater girls golf team places second in a morning round at Hastings Country Club and then finishes first in the afternoon at North Oaks Golf Club to vault into first place in the Suburban East Conference standings. The Ponies enter the day in a tie for third place with Forest Lake, but separate themselves slightly from the Rangers while also moving in front of East Ridge and Cretin-Derham Hall.

Boys lacrosse — Harrison Yaste provides four goals, but it is not enough for the Stillwater boys lacrosse team in a 9-8 loss to conference front-runner White Bear Lake in double overtime at Stillwater Area High School.
