Corbid and Magistad are SAHS Athletes of the Week

Softball

The Stillwater softball team has continued its strong play this season while contending in the Suburban East Conference and also putting the Ponies in line for a higher seed in Section 4AAAA.

Anna Corbid has provided strong pitching throughout, including the team’s recent victories over Mounds View, Maple Grove and Woodbury. The senior limited Mounds View to just two hits in an 8-0 conference victory on May 13.

The Ponies (12-5 SEC, 14-5) were scheduled to close out the regular season by hosting Cretin-Derham Hall on Thursday, May 16.

Boys tennis

A standout performer the past several seasons, Carter Magistad is not slowing down as a senior while anchoring a strong singles lineup for the Stillwater boys tennis team.

Magistad collected a straight set victory against Woodbury as the Ponies secured second-place in the Suburban East Conference with a 5-2 triumph on May 9. He followed that up with a 6-2, 6-0 victory as Stillwater blanked Roseville 7-0 in the Section 4AA quarterfinals on May 15.

The Ponies (12-3) face Mounds View in the section semifinals on Friday, May 17.
