10 years ago this week...

This is a look back at some of the people and teams making news in the St. Croix Valley 10 years ago, as reported in the Stillwater Gazette.

Synchronized swimming — It was a tight battle the entire way, but the Stillwater synchronized swimming team holds off Forest Lake 151-146 to claim top honors in the East Section Meet at Richfield High School. Victories in the short and extended team events helped put the Ponies over the top while qualifying 20 entries for the state meet.

Boys track and field — Eli Krahn provides first-place finishes in the 800- and 1,600-meter races and Isaac Hale wins the high jump to help lead the Stillwater boys track and field team to a fourth-place finish in the True Team State Meet at Stillwater Area High School. The Ponies also receive individual runner-up finishes from Alex Klein (110 hurdles) and Allen-Michael Burback (800).

Boys golf — John LeClair (75), Crosby Joy (77), Sammy Sicard (78) and Parker Anderson (79) contribute to the Stillwater boys golf team placing third in the Suburban East Conference Tournament at Indian Hills Country Club. The showing helps the Ponies overtake Forest Lake 38-37 for third place in the final conference standings behind Hastings (54) and White Bear Lake 41).
