Abdullah and Curnow are SAHS Athletes of the Week

One of just two seniors in the regular lineup for the Stillwater girls golf team, Vyan Abdullah has been a consistent performer for the Ponies throughout the season.

Abdullah carded a 44 to finish as the team’s second scorer as the Ponies placed fourth in a Suburban East Conference meet at Tanners Brook on May 22, just two days after providing a tie-breaking 47 as Stillwater edged Woodbury and Forest Lake for third place at Stillwater Country Club on May 20.

The Ponies will compete in the Section 4AAA tourney on May 30-31 at Goodrich Golf Club.

Boys track and field

There are plenty of moving parts for teams in the True Team State Track and Field Meet and Tyler Curnow helped anchor a strong showing for Stillwater in the throws on the way to a fourth-place finish in the team standings.

The sophomore placed second in the shot put with a toss of 53-4 3/4 and added a runner-up showing in the discus with a distance of 151-6 to lead the Ponies in both events.

Stillwater competed in the SEC championships at Forest Lake on May 23 and will host the Section 4AAA Meet on May 26 and 28.
