Williams and Wagner are SAHS Athletes of the Week

Girls track and field

After narrowly missing out on a spot in the True Team state meet, the Stillwater girls track and field team is making the most of its remaining opportunities to compete.

Anya Williams has contributed to the team’s victories in the Suburban East Conference Meet and at the Section 4AAA Meet. The senior won the long jump by a narrow margin over teammates and fellow state qualifiers Angela Taylor and Cayman Pagel. She also won the section high jump to advance to state in both events. She also contributed the team’s section victory in the 4x100 relay.

Anderson Wagner

Boys lacrosse

A reliable contributed all season, Anderson Wagner stepped up again while delivering four goals in the Stillwater boys lacrosse team’s 10-8 victory over White Bear Lake in the Section 4 championship game.

The junior also totaled four goals in Stillwater’s 15-3 section semifinal victory over Mahtomedi and added three goals in a 24-6 quarterfinal victory over Totino-Grace. His efforts as part of a balanced attack have earned the fourth-ranked Ponies (14-2) their third state tournament appearance in the past four seasons.
