Girls track and field

One of three senior long-jumping standouts for the Stillwater girls track and field team, Angela Taylor saved her best leap for last while placing third in the state meet on June 8.

Taylor, who also contributed to the team’s fifth-place finish in the 4x100 relay, covered 18- 1/2 on her final attempt to move up in the standings and add valuable points for the Ponies, who placed fifth in the overall team standings.

The soaring seniors contributed in other events all season, helping the Ponies to conference and section titles as well.

Boys track and field

The field events have been strong all season for the Stillwater boys track team and Chase Johnson did his part while helping the Ponies to a ninth-place finish in the Class AAA state meet on June 8 at STMA.

In his third trip to state, the junior cleared 6-2 to finish in a tie for fourth place. Teammate Liam Neis also placed 14th in the event for Stillwater, which scored 30 points after qualifying individuals in 12 events and all four relays.

Stillwater also won conference and sectioni titles this season and placed fourth at the True Team state meet.
