10 years ago this week....

This is a look back at some of the people and teams making news in the St. Croix Valley 10 years ago, as reported in the Stillwater Gazette.

Girls lacrosse — After placing fourth the three previous seasons, Stillwater holds off Apple Valley 9-7 to claim third place in the girls lacrosse state tournament at Chanhassen High School. Carly Fedorowski and Carter Sanderson each provide three goals for the (15-4).

Baseball — Senior Trevor Dudar is chosen to play for the Metro East Team in the 40th Annual Minnesota State High School Baseball Coaches Association All-Star Series at Chaska Athletic Park. The guest speaker for the banquet held prior to the games is former Minnesota Twins manager Tom Kelly.

Girls golf — For the second year in a row, Erin Thiets is chosen the Most Valuable Athlete for the Stillwater girls golf team. The junior joins Maddie Luoma in earning All-Suburban East Conference honors for a team that ties Forest Lake for second place in the conference standings.
