    Running: Rundquist, Conlin top field in Lift Bridge 10-mile race

    Matthew Rundquist and Annie Conlin took top honors in the men’s and women’s divisions of the Stillwater Lift Bridge 10-mile road race on Saturday, June 29.

    Rundquist, a 31-year-old from New Richmond, Wis., crossed the finish line in a time of 59:12, which was more than 50 seconds ahead of runner-up John Bodeau (1:00:03) of Eden Prairie.

    Stillwater’s Ben Krenz (1:03:14) and Adam Fitzpatrick (1:07:03) were the top local finishers while placing fourth and seventh overall.

    Conlin, 32, of Minnnetonka, claimed the women’s title in a time of 1:10:10, which was good enough for ninth place overall. Jennifer Lucas of Cottage Grove was the women’s runner-up in a time of 1:13:27.

    The 10-mile race was the longest of the three contested.

    Donnie Fellows, 45, of Lake Elmo won the men’s 5-kilometer race in a time of 16:46, which was 55 seconds ahead of runner-up Andrew Walsh (17:41), a senior-to-be at Stillwater Area High School. Brady Janezich (17:57) of Hibbing finished third while Sterling Follis (18:06) and Eric Norton (18:26), both of Stillwater, completed the top five.

    Seven of the top 10 finishers in the men’s division were 17-years old or younger.

    McKenzie Benedict of Prior Lake was the top finisher in the women’s division with a time of 20:47, nearly a minute ahead of runner-up Calista Berkley (21:44) of Hudson, Wis.

    Mary Fellows, 43, was the top local finisher in fifth place with a time of 23:34 while Amy Tibbetts, 55, of Stillwater placed seventh in 26:03.

    Ben Flamm, 36, of Palo Alto, Calif., captured the title in the 10-kilometer race with a time of 39:47 while Nate Janssen of St. Paul (40:50) was the runner-up.

    Mileena Sullivan, 18, of Hibbing was the top women’s finisher in a time of 41:30, which was good enough for third place overall. Elaina Wild, 37, of Plymouth placed second in a time of 47:04.

    Lake Elmo’s Michelle Banks, 56, was the top local finisher in a time of 52:38 while 12-year-old Olivia Gephart of Stillwater landed ninth with a time of 53:39.

    Following the Stillwater Half Marathon on May 25, this was the second of five races being conducted in the St. Croix Valley this year by Run Stillwater. Upcoming races include the St. Croix Crossing Half Marathon (July 27), Gopher to Badger Half Marathon (Aug. 10) and Stillwater Log Run Half Marathon (Sept. 21).
