After putting up gaudy numbers at the plate and providing strong defense in center field, Maya Schroeder was honored as the Most Valuable Athlete for the Stillwater softball team.

The junior was one of four all-conference performers for the Ponies, who advanced to the state tournament and finished with a 19-7 record overall. Stillwater (13-5) placed second in the Suburban East Conference standings behind Forest Lake (15-3).

Stillwater breezed through the Section 4AAAA tournament while outscoring the opponents by a combined 53-9 in four games. The Ponies were stopped by top-seeded Rosemount in extra innings in the state quarterfinals.

Seniors Addison Coffey, Anna Corbid and Sarah Dollerschell joined Schroeder in receiving All-SEC honors while Lilly Grundner, Mariah Koren, Cece Lamey and Ava Volkmann earned honorable mention all-conference recognition.

Setting the pace for Stillwater from the lead-off spot, Schroeder batted .558 with an on-base percentage of .631. She finished with 48 hits in 26 games with a team-leading 11 doubles, four triples, six home runs, 30 RBIs and 37 runs scored.

Schroeder was a Star Tribune All-Metro First Team selection and finalist for the Pioneer Press East Metro Player of the Year Award. She also landed on the Minnesota Fastpitch Coaches Association All-State Second Team.

During one torrid five-game stretch this season, Schroeder reached base in 20 of 22 plate appearances.

Coffey, who posted a .404 batting average while collecting seven doubles, five home runs and 29 RBIs, was named to the MFCA All-State First Team and was a Second Team All-Metro honoree by the Star Tribune.

Sarah Dollerschell, who batted .419 and also drove seven doubles and six home runs to finish with 21 RBIs, was an honorable mention selection for the MFCA All-State Team and also joined Coffey and Corbid in participating in the MFCA Senior All-Star Series.

Corbid finished with a 12-4 pitching record for the Ponies while notching 84 strikeouts with a 2.63 ERA in 96 innings. Opponents batted just .211 against her. Corbid also received the Pony Award and joined Coffey, Dollerschell and Morgan Perkins in earning Academic All-State recognition. They also contributed to Stillwater receiving an Academic Gold Award from the Minnesota State High School Coaches Association, which requires a combined grand point average of 3.75 or higher.

Coffey, Koren, Schroeder and Ava Volkmann received All-Section 4AAAA honors.

Volkmann, a junior who homered for the Ponies in the section championship game and the state tournament, received the team’s Most Improved Player Award while sophomore Amber Buchkoski garnered the Best Teammate Award.

Dollerschell took home the Golden Glove Award while Coffey received the Clutch Hitter Award.
