While the sportsbooks might not have as high an opinion of Oklahoma State football , the media sees the Cowboys as a legitimate contender for the Big 12 title.

OSU was selected third in the media’s preseason poll, released by the league office Tuesday morning. Gambling websites over the summer have released odds with OSU as the seventh-most likely team to win the conference.

In the media poll, the Pokes received 14 first-place votes and totaled 829 points, less than 80 behind Utah, which was voted first with 20 first-place votes and 906 points.

Kansas State was second at 889 points and 19 first-place votes.

Kansas (five) and Arizona (three) were the only other teams to receive first-place votes.
