Ollie Gordon II Arrested On DUI Charge
Last season, Oklahoma State running back Ollie Gordon II broke onto the scene with a massive year, eclipsing 1,700 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns. People wonder if he can succeed similarly in 2024, but that might need to be put on the back burner.
Gordon was arrested on Sunday for suspicion of DUI and speeding in Cleveland County, Oklahoma, according to NewYorkPost.com and multiple sources. A “half bottle of lemonade vodka and a half-full bottle of tequila” were discovered in his vehicle at the time of the arrest. Troopers in the area clocked Gordon doing 82 miles per hour in a 65 zone. He initially told the trooper he had nothing to drink, but upon failing a field sobriety test, he did confess to having just one beverage.
At the Clevland County Jail, Ollie Gordon II registered a 0.11 and 0.10 blood alcohol level. Oklahoma’s legal limit is 0.08. According to the affidavit of the arrest, Gordon initially refused to take a field sobriety test, which led to his arrest. An Oklahoma State spokesman commented that the school is “aware” of the incident, but declined to further comment.
Ollie Gordon II won the Doak Walker Award last season as the nation’s best running back, and is considered a favorite to win the award again this season. He was recently named Big 12 preseason offensive player of the year by media members who cover the conference on Tuesday. It will be interesting to see if head coach Mike Gundy or the university will dole out any sort of punishment for this event, or the severity in which they do. Keep an eye on Vendetta Sports Media for any updates on the arrest and potential disciplinary action.
