Wherever the dogs go, they have a GPS tracker on them. But last Saturday, the dogs were staying...
Step inside unique SF 'museum' home for sale full of medieval artifacts
A one-of-a-kind home is up for sale in San Francisco. Many say it's more like a museum than a house. The home on Portola Drive was owned by a Roman Catholic priest born in Cuba. It is chock-full of all sorts of artifacts.Step inside the home and you will be utterly amazed--maybe even overwhelmed by an extensive collection."He likes swords and dragons and basically anything medieval," listing agent Charlie Maden said about the owner."When the auctioneer came by to appraise the home, he made a beeline for these two and said these were the real deal," Maden said about the medieval...

Move over, Fernet. This reopened bar may have SF’s biggest collection of amari
Welcome to Swig City, where we point you toward don’t-miss cocktails at some of the best bars, restaurants and clubs in the city. Cheers!. A friend of many years, visiting San Francisco for the first time in a long time, asked me this Tuesday night at the Powerhouse, an LGBTQ+ bar in the South of Market. I was already nursing an IPA, and I didn’t especially want to mix the beer’s dank hops with the mentholated musk of an amaro, the specific category of bitter, herbaceous, stomach-settling digestif to which Fernet belongs.
Inside the opulent world of six-figure kids birthday parties in Silicon Valley
The stages vary for a professional children’s entertainer in the Bay Area. Sometimes it’s a park in San Francisco. Occasionally, it’s a Silicon Valley mansion and its sprawling backyard or tennis court. And once in a rare while, you’ll be escorted onto a private plane and whisked away to put on a show at a mountain ranch.
Jack London’s legacy lives on in little Richmond house
In a tiny home in Richmond’s Panhandle Annex lives a treasure trove of literary gems—letters, books of short stories and rare first editions of works by Jack London, a world-renowned author with deep Oakland roots. The keeper of this goldmine is none other than London’s great-granddaughter, Tarnel Abbott, a Richmond resident for more than 32 years.
Parchester mural project: It takes a village to color a community
Dipping his brush into light blue paint, Peter Bakke filled numbered panels with the color. The sea was taking shape Saturday on the long wall in front of him, where dozens of other volunteers were applying shades of blue with careful strokes. Working all morning and much of the afternoon,...
Train brings the sounds of San Francisco to Michigan for an evening of rock
Tonight’s show featured an interesting lineup. Yacht Rock Revue kicked off the night, embodying the fun and nostalgia of the ‘70s and ‘80s that we all enjoy. REO Speedwagon, well-known for classic rock, provided a contrasting and engaging performance alongside Train, a band more associated with 2000s radio hits.
Feel the noise: A trip into San Francisco’s booming sonic art scene
It was amusing at first — all our screens and Zooms and Reels and constant busyness and endless rushing and the pace and insanity of the news. But the fun wore thin, and our nerves wore thin, and so, before their last synapses fried, 45 San Franciscans filed one recent evening into a large, dark room.
