SF District 9 supervisor candidate speaks out about hate crime attack, suspect denies allegations
A San Francisco man is speaking out after someone yelling anti-LGBTQIA+ slurs, attacked him Sunday. Trevor Chandler, a candidate for District 9 Supervisor, said he was about to begin canvassing his neighborhood along Harrison Street. He said as he crossed 23rd Street, a man began yelling slurs at him. Chandler added after he took a few more steps, the man threw a metal A-frame at him. It didn’t hurt him, but it was frightening enough that he called police.
Now the Bay Area Has Its Own Fire, as Point Fire in Contra Costa County Grows to Nearly 500 Acres
There were evacuations Friday in Bay Point and Concord, as the Point Fire in Contra Costa County grew to more than 470 acres, but was 40% contained as of Saturday. This is already a terrible weekend for California wildfires, as the Park Fire in Butte and Tehama counties has now burnt up more than 348,000 acres, making it the seventh-largest wildfire in California history. That wildfire is currently 0% contained, so the Park Fire news may get worse as the weekend progresses.
