Deputies attempted to stop a vehicle with license plates that didn't match its registration just after 5 p.m. Saturday on Wilson Way in Stockton, near the diverting canal. <nbtemplate data-id="AdPlaceholder" data-content="JTdCJTdE"></nbtemplate> The driver fled, resulting in a pursuit ending at Hammer Lane and Holman Road when the suspect's vehicle crashed into another vehicle. The suspect sustained injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital, as was a passenger as a precaution. The driver was on parole and the passenger had a warrant for his arrest for a parole violation stemming from armed robbery. Officers allegedly found an illegal loaded firearm in the vehicle as illegal narcotics. -0- Two people suspected in a theft of a local business in Benicia on Sunday allegedly rammed two police cars as they tried to flee, the department said. Around noon, officers responded to the Solano Square shopping area on a report of a theft in progress at a business there. <nbtemplate data-id="AdPlaceholder" data-content="JTdCJTdE"></nbtemplate> According to police, the suspects attempted to flee the scene, and in the process, rammed into a police car. They then allegedly struck two parked vehicles while trying to back away, and then they hit a second police car. Police managed to stop the suspects' vehicle and took them into custody-- a man aged 28 and a woman aged 21. Benicia Police allege the suspects' vehicle was found to be stolen, and they located other stolen property inside of it. Both were booked into the Solano County Jail on suspicion of shoplifting, being in possession of a stolen vehicle, conspiracy to commit a crime, and probation violations. -0- A former Stockton Kings basketball player has been arrested along with his girlfriend on suspicion of killing a woman in the Las Vegas area earlier this month, according to police. <nbtemplate data-id="AdPlaceholder" data-content="JTdCJTdE"></nbtemplate> Chance Comanche, 27, and Sakari Hamden, 19, are accused of killing Marayna Rodgers, who was reported missing on the afternoon of Dec. 7 to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Investigators learned that Rodgers was out with friends on Dec. 5 and had a prearranged meeting with Hamden and Comanche, but was not seen or heard from for days afterward, according to Las Vegas police. Hamden was arrested in Las Vegas on Wednesday and Comanche was arrested Friday in Sacramento by the FBI. The Stockton Kings, the NBA G League affiliate of the Sacramento Kings, announced Friday that they had released Comanche from the team and did not provide further details. Las Vegas police said information obtained after the arrest of Comanche and Hamden led detectives to a desert area in Henderson, Nevada, where they found human remains that were later identified as that of Rodgers. <nbtemplate data-id="AdPlaceholder" data-content="JTdCJTdE"></nbtemplate> -0- One person was killed in a collision Sunday night on the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge, according to California Highway Patrol. As of 8:40 p.m., all lanes in the westbound direction of Interstate Highway 580 on the bridge were shut down while first responders dealt with the crash. CHP initially believed only involved one vehicle was involved, but at 9:15 p.m. said they now believe there were two vehicles. A full investigation will be carried out to determine exactly what happened, an officer on the scene said. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and there is no estimated time for the lanes to re-open, CHP said. -0- A pedestrian was involved in a vehicle collision in Concord Sunday night, police said shortly after 9 p.m. <nbtemplate data-id="AdPlaceholder" data-content="JTdCJTdE"></nbtemplate> The collision occurred near the intersection of Treat Boulevard and Navaronne Way, according to police. The condition of the pedestrian was not immediately available. There are partial road closures as of the announcement, police said. Drivers are encouraged to take alternate routes around the area. -0- Authorities in Marin County last month arrested a man on probation who allegedly sold an undercover officer methamphetamine, the sheriff's office said Saturday. Coordination of Probation Enforcement Detectives became aware of a residence in Kentfield near Bacich Elementary where people who are known to be on probation live, including a man named Kenneth Metcalfe. According to the Marin County Sheriff's Office, Metcalfe had two outstanding warrants in the county and was on probation for burglary out of Sonoma County. <nbtemplate data-id="AdPlaceholder" data-content="JTdCJTdE"></nbtemplate> Officers allege they reached Metcalfe undercover on Facebook via the Messenger app. They allege he offered to meet an undercover officer and sell methamphetamine to the detective at a liquor store. Metcalfe was booked into the Marin County Jail on suspicion of possession and sales of methamphetamine. -0- Petaluma police on Sunday morning arrested a man for alleged drunk driving and a hit-and-run, after he allegedly crashed his vehicle into a fire hydrant and fled the scene. Police were called at 12:57 a.m. to the 200 block of N Water Street on report of a collision involving a vehicle into a fire hydrant. The involved vehicle, a gray Dodge Challenger, reportedly left the scene. Officers found the broken hydrant spraying water into the air. The reporting party directed officers to a Dodge Challenger parked down the road with damage consistent with the collision. The driver reportedly fled the area on foot. Police located a subject matching the description of the driver, walking in the 800 block of Petaluma Boulevard. The suspect, identified as Kelvin Kelsey, "had objective signs of alcohol intoxication and showed impairment while performing field sobriety tests," police alleged on social media. Officers allege Kelsey was driving under the influence of alcohol and arrested him on suspicion of DUI hit-and-run and took him to Sonoma County Jail. -0- Two Stockton men have been federally charged for being felons in possession of firearms as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a law enforcement initiative to reduce gun violence and crime, the U.S. Department of Justice, Eastern District of California announced Friday. Sovan Leng, 32, was allegedly found to be in the possession of a Glock 17 9mm pistol on Oct. 16. Due to prior felony convictions for assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of a controlled substance, Leng is barred from having any guns or ammunition. He was indicted on Nov. 30. Jerone Sotolongo, 30, was indicted by a federal jury on Dec. 7 for one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm. Federal investigators worked with the Stockton Police Department on these cases, prosecutors said. If convicted, both men are facing up to 15 years in federal prison and a fine of $250,000 each. -0- A San Francisco nonprofit has organized an outreach day to assist unhoused women in the city this week in the hopes that city government will appreciate the special needs of this population. Community Forward SF, an agency that assists unhoused people, on Tuesday will provide outreach to unhoused women in the Tenderloin and South of Market (SoMa) neighborhoods. The organization has been trying to spearhead the creation of a women-only shelter space in San Francisco. Shelters can be dangerous and violent places for anyone experiencing homelessness, but especially for more vulnerable people and women. According to Community Forward, in a survey of unhoused women taken by the California Policy Lab, a research group associated with the University of California, 80 percent of unhoused women reported domestic abuse or violence as the cause of their homelessness. -0- All fourth graders and their families in Santa Cruz County will be able to see America's most beautiful places next year for free thanks to the county office of education and the U.S. government. Three-thousand passes to national parks were delivered to the county in early December to be handed out in ten different school districts. They will be given to fourth graders through the end of January, and are good through August of 2024. Students and their families need only flash the pass at the ranger at any of 2,000 national parks. The pass admits all children under 16 and all adults in up to one passenger vehicle. -0- The National Weather Service forecast for the greater San Francisco Bay Area for Monday calls for rain during the whole day, with up to 100 chance of rain showers in some areas in the region. Daytime highs will be mostly in the 60s in the Bay Area. Overnight lows are mostly in the 50s in the region. Forecasters expect a cold front to bring breezy and gusty southerly winds, followed by the main rain band, which will pushing on shore in the North Bay around 4 a.m. Monday with the rest of the coastal areas following shortly after. In the mid to late morning, it will decline in rates as it continues to move inland. The NWS says there will mostly be gusty winds ahead of, and during, the frontal passage as well as urban or small stream flooding. Rain showers are likely to stay moderate with some locally heavier amounts possible on higher peaks of the coastal mountains. While widespread flooding conditions are not expected, residents are advised to be prepared for localized flooding.
