San Joaquin Co.: Man Arrested This Week On Suspicion Of Attempted Murder

A Stockton man was arrested this week on suspicion of attempted murder in San Joaquin County.

Deputies responded at about 4 a.m. Tuesday to the 1300 block of S. Oro Avenue near Stockton on reports of gunfire and a person being shot.

At the scene, deputies found a person suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and transported them to a hospital. The person is expected to survive.

When additional deputies arrived at the scene, they said they found a person who was allegedly concealing a handgun in their waistband.

The man, identified as 29-year-old Paul Baxter, fled the scene but was quickly detained.

Baxter was taken to the San Joaquin County Jail.
