Summer has a firm grip on Stockton, with searing temperatures in the 90s expected to settle in the area through most of next week.

To recap, there's an excessive heat warning through 9 p.m. Saturday. Sunday won't be much relief because the forecast calls for a high of 97 degrees and on Monday, it could reach 95 degrees.

Stockton has swimming pools and splash pads, even a fountain, where kids and adults can take a dip or sprinkle some cool water to just chill.

Children under the age of 12 years old must be accompanied by and adult 18 years old or over.

For those looking for a little more action than at pools and splash pads, head over to the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds for Splash Fest's large water balloon fight that will attempt to break a world record on Saturday.

Organizers want to see 10,000 people to show up and were 4,000 short as of Friday.
