    Filing period ends Friday for conservation supervisor

    Candidate filing for Soil & Water Conservation District Supervisor will end at 12 p.m. on July 5.

    According to the Stokes County Board of Elections, only one candidate has filed for election to the post: Bob Lindsay.

    There is no primary election for this position. Eligible candidates who file will be on the Nov. 5 general election ballot.

    This is a nonpartisan contest; party affiliation of candidates will not appear on the ballot.

    There is one seat on the ballot in 2024. The top vote-getter will earn a four-year term.

    A prospective candidate should come to the elections office to complete the necessary paperwork or mail the Notice of Candidacy form to the Stokes County Board of Elections.

    A mailed Notice of Candidacy form must be properly completed and signed, certified by a notary public in the appropriate places and received in the elections office by noon on July 5.

    Please note the the Board of Elections office will be closed on July 4, in observance of Independence Day.

    The filing fee is $5.
