Broad Channel resident Mike Sirota last weekend was selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the third round of Major League Baseball’s 2024 Draft. Sirota, 21, great-nephew of Yankees Hall of Fame pitcher—and Astoria native—Whitey Ford, patrols centerfield for the Northeastern University Howlin Huskies.
