The recent rain has been beneficial for our ground
MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - Meridian has received nearly 5 inches of rain thus far this month, and most of that fell over the past 2 weeks. So, to no surprise, there’s a monthly surplus... and the ground is saturated areawide. This recent rain has helped almost eliminate the “Abnormally Dry” conditions (below) that dominated a good portion of our area last week.
Mississippi unemployment rate holds steady at record low 2.8%
(The Center Square) – Federal data shows Mississippi's unemployment rate remained at a record low 2.8% in June for the third consecutive month. That is an improvement over June 2023, when the rate was 3.1%. The national unemployment rate in June was 4.1%. The number of unemployed grew from 35,600 to 47,100. Arrest made in Meridian High School burglaries
MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - An arrest has been made in connection to a series of burglaries at Meridian High School. The search for the suspects began around 2:00 p.m. Thursday. The Meridian Public School District Campus Police, with help from the Meridian Police Department and the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department, has arrested one male suspect in the Poplar Springs area. Anthony Fox to receive compensation from Mississippi for wrongful conviction
JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The State of Mississippi will pay compensation to a former Jackson police officer for his wrongful conviction.
