    Man accused of fatally shooting woman in Wood County arrested in Stonewood

    STONEWOOD, W.Va. (WBOY) — A man who allegedly shot a woman in Wood County on Saturday has been arrested in Harrison County.

    According to a press release from the Vienna Police Department , a woman was found dead from an apparent gunshot wound at an apartment on 19th Street in Vienna, which is in the Parkersburg area. The victim, who was identified as 22-year-old Morgan Lee Lott (Stutler) according to police, was found by a family member just after 4 p.m. on July 20.

    Hearl Collins

    After gathering information from the crime scene and witnesses, Hearl Collins, 31, was named the suspect in the case.

    2 airlifted after Marion County ATV accident

    An arrest warrant for first degree murder was put out on Collins. Working with the U.S. Marshal’s Office and West Virginia State Police, Vienna officers learned that Collins was at a residence in Harrison County.

    Harrison County SWAT units arrested Collins without incident at a home in Stonewood around 9 a.m. on Sunday, July 21, according to the release.

    Lott’s body was transported to the West Virginia Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy, and Collins was charged with first degree murder.
