    LIMEHOF to hold free concert and scholarship awards ceremomy

    The Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame (LIMEHOF) will hold a free concert on June 30 at 3 p.m. at its Stony Brook location. The Beatles on the Balcony concert will feature local tribute band The Liverpool Shuffle, preceded by an awards ceremony to present ten $1,000 scholarships. The organization will also announce the recipient of the Pat DeRose Memorial Scholarship. This is the first year that LIMEHOF has expanded its awards program to include not only music but also the performing arts, according to the organization.

    The Beatles on the Balcony Concert and high school scholarships are sponsored by Catholic Health, PSEG and Eisner Amper.

     

    Students raise more than $6K for Ronald McDonald House

    Students at Park View Elementary School in Kings Park gathered in an outdoor assembly event to “paint the Principal” as a reward for raising $6,429 to support Ronald McDonald House Charities NY Metro. Using pool super soakers with brightly colored paints, students “painted” school Principal Kevin Storch as part of the charitable giving program.

    For the seventh year running, Kings Park students have worked with Ronald McDonald House Charities NY Metro, collecting donations through a combination of car washes, pancake breakfasts and collecting loose change in classrooms.

    This year’s events included a Bingo Night and raffle, which helped to set the all-time record for fundraising at the school.

    Independent Group Home Living (IGHL), a nonprofit dedicated to supporting people living with developmental and intellectual disabilities, recently hosted its Sunset on the Bay reception.

    Daniel Liberty and Sean Umhafer of Webster Bank were honored at the event which, raised more than $100,000.

     

    NYU medical school graduates 24 new doctors within ‘Class of 24’

    NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine salutes its new doctors following their graduation ceremony at the Tilles Center in Brookville. The 24 physicians proudly graduated as the Class of 2024 and will be moving on to the next phase of their medical careers, while helping to ease the nationwide shortage of primary care doctors.
