    UConn finishes third in Men’s Capital One Cup, an official ranking of national athletic success

    UConn fans already know that their school has had a special year when it comes to athletic success.

    But just how successful were the Huskies when compared to other programs around the country? Well, it turns out, pretty successful.

    On Wednesday, the school announced that it finished third in in the Men’s Capital One Cup standings, which rank each school in the country based on athletic success across all sports. The Huskies finished 24th in the women’s standings .

    Notre Dame finished first on the men’s side, with 103 points. The Irish finished with a No. 1 ranking in men’s lacrosse, No. 2 in men’s soccer and fencing, and No. 10 in swimming and diving.

    Michigan came in second with 90 points after capturing the college football national championship and reaching the men’s Frozen Four, as well as securing top-10 finishes in men’s lacrosse and gymnastics.

    UConn , which took home the men’s basketball national title and had the baseball team advance to the Super Regionals, tied with Clemson for third with 60 points. The third-place finish is the best in school history.

    Texas (156 points) edged Stanford (155) for the top spot in the women’s rankings, followed by Florida (102) and UCLA (70).

    UConn was one of seven schools to rank in the Top 25 on both the men’s and womens’ side.
