    Stoughton rallies behind Olympic gymnast Richard Frederick: Where to watch him compete

    STOUGHTON — As Stoughton gymnast Frederick Richard prepares to compete in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, his hometown prepares along with him.

    Students and teachers at Stoughton Public Schools are cheering Richard on through social media, and a several watch parties have been scheduled for community members to watch Richard compete in the U.S. men's gymnastics team final .

    “We are so proud of Fred, a 2022 [Stoughton High School] graduate and former [O’Donnell Middle School] and Dawe [Elementary] School student! We look forward to watching him at the Olympics!” Stoughton Public Schools wrote in a post on its Facebook page .

    Where to watch Frederick Richard in the 2024 Paris Olympics

    Stoughton Public Schools is hosting an Olympic watch party on Monday, July 29, at 11:30 a.m. at Stoughton High School in room A216.

    “Help us cheer for Stoughton's own Frederick Richard as he competes with the U.S. men's gymnastics team in the men's team final!” the school district wrote in a post on its Facebook page.

    Outside food and beverages are not allowed at the watch party at the high school, the district wrote.

    Another community watch party has been scheduled for July 29 at the TGI Fridays in Stoughton, located at 2 Hawes Way.

    “We'll have all the TVs on the Olympics, sound up, and a fun all ages atmosphere,” the event’s organizer wrote on Facebook . Food and alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase.

    Stoughton community rallies behind their own

    In a video posted by Stoughton Public Schools , Richard’s former teachers shared their experiences of Richard from Kindergarten all the way through high school.

    “I feel like you were jumping around our classroom just last year,” his kindergarten teacher said.

    “Make sure to tell your mom that she was correct in saying that you did not have to do your homework because you were going to make it to the Olympics someday. And she was right,” his second-grade teacher said.

    Students at Stoughton Public Schools also joined in to wish Richard good luck in a student produced video .

    "Go with gold Fred. You got this," one student said. "Fred, you're the man," said another.

    The Stoughton Police Department also publicly congratulated Richard after he made the U.S. men’s Olympic team earlier in the summer.

    “Stoughton has an Olympian!!!!” the department wrote in a post on Facebook . “Frederick, it has been so exciting to watch your journey over the years. We are incredibly proud of you," they wrote.
