Israeli commandos conducted a rare ground raid in Syria this week, targeting a weapons facility tied to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps, officials said Thursday. The operation, near Masyaf , combined airstrikes and a commando assault. The site reportedly produced chemical weapons and missiles for Hezbollah , a militant group backed by Iran.

Israeli jets launched the initial strike Sunday night . Afterward, special forces rappelled from helicopters, stormed the site, and captured several Iranian officers.

Ground troops secured key intelligence, including missile production materials, before rigging the facility with explosives and destroying it.

No Israeli casualties were reported, but Syrian state media confirmed casualties at the site. The operation also targeted a Hezbollah missile facility near the Lebanese border.

Western officials hailed the raid as a significant blow to Iran and Hezbollah's military infrastructure in Syria, amid rising tensions in the region.
