Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., said he received a new whistleblower allegation that claims the Secret Service denied Department of Homeland Security auditors access to Donald Trump's campaign events. In a letter to Acting Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe , Hawley said the whistleblower alleges the former president is not receiving full protective assets for all his events and the agency’s leadership wanted to hide that.

Hawley said in a separate letter to the DHS Inspector General Joseph Cuffari that inspectors were granted access to a Trump rally in North Carolina but were denied access to other events.

Hawley has been collecting whistleblower allegations ever since the first attempt on Trump's life in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13. He has an email and telephone number for whistleblowers to get in touch with his office. He encourages people to reach out anonymously, including federal employees who are protected from retaliation under the Whistleblower Protection Act.

Hawley also had a bill pass through the Senate Homeland Security Committee which would require the Secret Service to hand over all information in its possession regarding the Butler assassination attempt against Trump.

“I just think given the way that Secret Service and DHS have stonewalled this committee, and Senator Blumenthal has spoken to this eloquently, a number of you have on the committee, I just think it’s incumbent upon us to say, ‘We want this information. We’re the committee of jurisdiction, we should have it’,” Sen. Hawley said at a committee hearing.

In September , Hawley heard from another whistleblower who said the Secret Service failed to follow standard protocols when there was a second assassination attempt against Trump at a Florida golf course.

Hawley said the course had known vulnerabilities where members of the public could get a clear line of sight to golfers on the course.

“I'm always really careful about whistleblowers and protecting their identities, but here, I think I can safely say this is a whistleblower who has previously guarded President Trump at this golf course,” Hawley told reporters at the time.

Former President Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris both receive presidential level security in the wake of the assassination attempts. That includes speaking behind bullet proof glass at outdoor rallies, a protective asset usually reserved for the sitting president.
